The Case for Large Language Model Optimism in Legal Research from a Law & Technology Librarian

This article offers a deliberately balanced defense of using large language models in legal research. Its optimism is conditional, not naive: the tools become more useful when paired with verification, source awareness, and disciplined workflow design.

It argues that librarians and legal researchers are well positioned to shape that responsible use because they already work at the intersection of retrieval, judgment, and methodological rigor.
